Queen's University lose out to Glentoran

Queen's University lost out in their sixth round tie against Glentoran, Robbie McDaid's hat-trick the difference between the two sides in an otherwise even affair.

Queen's went behind early after the wind caused the ball to hold up in the air from a cross and allow an easy tap in after a keeper mistake. We levelled the tie after a great cross from our left side, Jonah Mitchell beat the keeper to the ball and found the net.

McDaid got his second of the game 5 minutes before half time however Queen's immediately replied through Matthew Hughes, beating two players on the edge of the box and finding the bottom corner, meaning the sides went in all square.

The Glens top scorer completed his hat-trick in the second half to put the away side ahead for the third time. A late flurry of action from Queen's could have resulted in a goal on another day but the Glentoran defence held strong to hold out for a tight 3-2 victory and take them into the next round against cup holders Crusaders.
