We are proud to announce that Queen’s Sport has been shortlisted for The Irish News Sports Team of the Year Award 2025 — a celebration of collaboration, innovation, and resilience across sport in Northern Ireland.

This nomination recognises the exceptional achievements of our entire Queen’s Sport team, whose work continues to transform lives on and off campus. From Olympic representation and global sporting tours, to inclusive participation initiatives and elite athlete support, our team has championed the values of excellence, diversity and opportunity in every aspect of sport at Queen’s.

Over the past year, we’ve:

• Supported 12 athletes to compete at Paris 2024

• Delivered the groundbreaking “Global Spirit, Local Goals” GAA tour across the US

• Supported our Elite Athletes to excel academically, with many achieving Firsts and 2:1s

• Reached 32 million people across media and social platforms during the US tour

• Grown gym memberships to over 12,000 

• Created inclusive sport initiatives like Active Campus and staff wellbeing programmes
