Queen’s University Belfast is honoured to host the 2025 HEC O’Connor Cup from March 13–15, 2025, marking a momentous occasion as we also celebrate 30 years of Ladies Gaelic Football at Queen's. 

This pinnacle event in third-level ladies’ Gaelic football will see the finest university teams from across Ireland come together to compete for the prestigious title. Known for its unparalleled excitement and fierce competition, the O’Connor Cup is a showcase of elite talent, teamwork, and dedication to the sport.

With thrilling matches (some under the lights) and a vibrant atmosphere, this promises to be an unforgettable weekend of celebration and sport.

For teams attending the O’Connor Cup, Queen’s University Belfast offers comfortable and affordable accommodation at Elms BT9. Located just a 15-minute walk or a short bus ride from Queen’s campus, Elms BT9 provides a secure and convenient stay with excellent facilities.

Room Options & Pricing

  • 99 Ensuite Rooms – £35 per night (per room)
  • 62 Standard Rooms – £30 per night (per room)
  • Availability: Wednesday, 12th March – Monday, 17th March 2025
  • Minimum Stay: Two-night booking required

  • Common Areas – Each block comprises 10-11 bedrooms with a shared common room and kitchen on each floor

Additional Information

  • Facilities Access: While the Elms BT9 village is a short walk from the main campus and PEC, where gym facilities are available, the O’Connor Cup games will take place at Upper Malone sports complex, approximately two miles from the main university site (accessible via a short bus journey).
  • Reservations: Due to limited availability, bookings will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis. Unfortunately, provisional bookings cannot be accommodated.

  • Gym & Recovery Access: Pay-as-you-go gym access is available at PEC. For group bookings, recovery sessions, or pool access, please contact PECBookings@qub.ac.uk
