Today, thanks to significant investment, Upper Malone's outdoor facilities have been transformed into a world-class center for training and competition, ensuring that generations of students, staff, and the community can continue to strive for excellence. 

The Arena Pitch and Clubhouse At the heart of our upgraded facility are the Arena Pitch and Clubhouse. With seating for nearly 330 people and a state-of-the-art fibre-sand reinforced pitch, our venue stands out as the only facility in the UK and Ireland that accommodates rugby, Gaelic games, and soccer on a single platform.

Perfect Playing Surfaces Our facility boasts cutting-edge floodlit grass and synthetic playing surfaces, ideal for Gaelic games, hockey, rugby, soccer, and more. These surfaces are perfect for year-round training, sports camps, and events, including 5-a-side soccer matches.

Changing Areas The Clubhouse features 22 modern changing rooms, while an additional 16 grass changing rooms are equipped with showers and ancillary facilities, providing immediate access to the grass pitches on the south side of the site.

Indoor Warm-Up/Cool-Down Area Our purpose-built indoor area allows teams to perform pre and post-match stretching and warm-up activities in a dedicated space, enhancing preparation and recovery.

Premier Facilities for All Occasions Queen’s Sport Upper Malone Playing Fields is a premier outdoor sporting venue located approximately 2 miles from the main University site, adjacent to the House of Sport on Upper Malone Road. Spanning 100 acres, this impressive site is perfect for training, matches, functions, and large-scale events.

The facility has benefited from over £13 million in investment, resulting in upgraded pitches and a new state-of-the-art Pavilion. The Pavilion includes a social area, meeting rooms, and changing facilities, with direct access to the main Arena Pitch and its 334-seater stadium.

Versatile Pitch Options

• Grass Pitches: Two rugby pitches, three GAA pitches, and two grass soccer pitches are available for one-off or block bookings at competitive rates.
• Arena Pitch: This versatile pitch can host GAA, rugby, or soccer matches and is equipped with spectator stands.
• 3G Pitches: Ideal for soccer, GAA, and rugby.
• Hockey Pitches: Featuring one water-based and one sand-dressed pitch for dedicated hockey use.
