Chemical Engineering Student Ruairi Forbes Awarded 2024 Brian Conlon GAA Academy Scholarship at Queen’s

Ruairi Forbes, a promising Chemical Engineering student, has been named the 2024 recipient of the Brian Conlon GAA Academy Scholarship at Queen’s University Belfast. This prestigious annual scholarship is part of the Brian Conlon Foundation.

The award is presented to an outstanding student who has progressed through the Gaelic Football Future Stars programme, recognising their engagement, attitude, and performance during their first year at Queen’s. The scholarship presentation ceremony was held at One Elmwood, attended by Brian Conlon's family and trustees of his foundation.

During the event, Ciaran Conlon, Brian’s brother, delivered a heartfelt speech that celebrated Brian's enduring legacy and emphasised the importance of nurturing young athletes. Additionally, Jack Devaney, Chairman of the Queen’s Gaelic Football Past Members’ Union, and Karl Oakes highlighted the scholarship’s vital role in promoting excellence in both academics and Gaelic football.

This scholarship underscores Queen’s University Belfast’s dedication to fostering talent and encouraging academic and athletic excellence among its students.
