The stage is set for an action-packed weekend as Queen’s Sport proudly hosts the 2025 AIG Ladies HEC Championship Finals from Thursday, 13 March to Saturday, 15 March. Over three days of competition, university teams from across Ireland will battle it out for national titles at Queen’s Sport, Upper Malone.

Vice-Chancellor of Queen’s University Belfast highlighted the significance of the event:

“Queen’s University Belfast is honoured to host the 2025 AIG HEC O’Connor Cup Championships, as we also celebrate 30 years of Ladies’ Gaelic Football at Queen's. On our 180th anniversary, we reflect on a long and distinguished sporting history, which has played an important part in the Queen’s student experience since our foundation. Queen’s GAA club has long nurtured some of the game’s sporting greats – from Allstars to All-Ireland winners – and we fondly remember being crowned O’Connor Cup winners in 2013. We are delighted to have this opportunity to show our support for women in sport and look forward to witnessing the skill and talent of the best third-level players from across the UK and Ireland at this year’s tournament.”

Adding to the excitement, all seven finals will be streamed live, with the flagship AIG O’Connor Cup Final airing on the Spórt TG4 YouTube channel on Saturday, 15 March. Fans can also watch the AIG O’Connor Cup semi-finals on Friday, 14 March, along with other finals via Ladies HEC/LGFA streaming platforms.

Speaking about the upcoming event, Queen’s Sport Performance Sport Manager, Aidan O’Rourke, expressed pride in hosting such a prestigious competition:

“Queen’s Sport is delighted to welcome the 2025 Ladies HEC Championship Finals to Belfast in what is a milestone year for our university. These players are outstanding role models for Gaelic Games, and we look forward to showcasing their talent while ensuring an unforgettable experience for teams and supporters alike.”

With 30 institutions and nearly 2,200 players involved across the championships, the competition has been fierce, setting the stage for an unforgettable weekend of gaelic football.
